Faulty use of facial recognition technology led to the unjust arrest of a Detroit woman, she said in a federal lawsuit, alleging that police failed to ask basic questions that could've cleared her on the spot.
LaDonna Crutchfield, 37, was at home with her children on Jan. 23, 2024, when police took her away in handcuffs and accused her of being their prime suspect in an attempted murder, according to a complaint filed last week in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Crutchfield "was identified as a suspect by an unknown facial recognition database," the lawsuit said.

4 arrested after 5-year-old Michigan boy's death in hyperbaric chamber explosion
Four people have been arrested after a 5-year-old boy was killed in a hyperbaric chamber explosion in Troy, Michigan.
The Troy Police Department confirmed that the arrests occurred Monday morning. They are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is providing an update on those arrested. CBS News Detroit is streaming live coverage at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police did not release the names of the people arrested; however, court records show that one of them was Tami Peterson, the center's owner.

[Philippines] Ex-president Rodrigo Duterte arrested over crimes against humanity
MANILA, Philippines – Former president Rodrigo Duterte was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA 3) on Tuesday, March 11, over a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), becoming the first former Philippine head of state to be arrested through an order by an international tribunal.
Earlier, an informed ranking source told Rappler that Duterte is already in custody, which was also confirmed to Rappler by a separate security source. Malacañang later confirmed this.
Duterte faces a crimes against humanity case before the international court over his drug war that killed close to 30,000 people, according to tallies by human rights groups. Prior to his arrest, the former president was put on Red Notice alert by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), following the ICC’s issuance of a warrant.
