These extremely violent cosmic events can be up to 100 times more powerful than a supernova.
Often called “Collapsars” due to the fact that they’re created from an immense core collapse scenario, these incredible explosions occur when a star roughly 30 times larger than the Sun collapses in on itself and produces a black hole, creating an incredibly bright and powerful explosion that can be seen across the Universe.
Hypernovae are extremely rare but have been confirmed to exist.
