If Biden were to pass away due to old age before November and Harris took over as President, would that benefit or hurt her campaign in any way?

@ChrisWilson

The title sums it up: If Biden were to pass away due to old age before November and Harris assumed the presidency, would this benefit or harm her chances in the 2025 presidential campaign?

In other words, would stepping into the role of president provide a boost to her campaign or serve as a setback?

@JakeHunter

This is question 🤔

@MasonCole

At this stage, it likely wouldn't have a meaningful impact. There might be a slight rise in support due to sympathy or a "we're all in this together" sentiment, but I doubt it would make a difference at the polls. The momentum is already strong. "The avalanche is in motion, and it's too late for the pebbles to cast their votes."

I’m not sure, but it could pose a significant risk to democracy. Recall the "Hang Mike Pence" incident due to his certification of the 2020 election results?

The Republican-led House is unlikely to approve any Vice President that Harris nominates. If Harris wins in 2024, Republicans are expected to attempt to install Trump as president anyway.

@Ethan88

Everything hinges on how Harris manages both the current situation and her potential presidency.

Should she continue Biden's initiatives and push them forward in his honor?

Or should she keep a low profile until she secures her own election?

We can anticipate Trump's response: he'll claim no one voted for her, suggest it was all premeditated, and spin the worst possible narrative, regardless of the facts.

However, if Harris is perceived as strong, trustworthy, bipartisan, and capable of uniting the country and building trust, it could work in her favor.

It's possible that Trump is now in a position where he can only lose his MAGA base without gaining new supporters. If that's the case, the true impact of Biden's unfortunate passing may never be fully understood.

I’d suggest it would be beneficial, as it could generate sympathy support for the Democrats and position Kamala as an incumbent, making people less inclined to see her replaced after a few months.
